I am sitting watching the sun rise over the horizon. My husband and son are out at the dawn service for ANZAC Day, and I am feeling grateful for all those young men, and women, who have served our country. Those who have fallen, and those who live on to tell the story.
My grandfather served in the 1st World War, and fought in the trenches of France. My dad in the 2nd World War as a Pilot in the RAAF. My mum served in the army during WWII as well. I thank them and others who were selfless in their service.
For my friends who don’t know what ANZAC means, it stands for Australia, New Zealand Army Corps. Today, April 25th, marks the day we give thanks for those soldiers who have fought together for the freedom of our countries. Many men and women from both Australia and New Zealand have stood together to achieve the freedom we have today. For that I give thanks.

ODE OF REMEMBRANCE

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
LEST WE FORGET…
