About Me

Who am I
I’m a family girl, blessed to have the freedom to do what I love. I choose to fill my days with my family, my university studies, meeting new people online, and sharing some thoughts and experiences along the way.

What I do

I write, I study, and then I blog. In my spare time I work with the Young Women in my ward.

Where I am from
Currently Auckland, New Zealand, but home for me is Brisbane, Australia.

Why I am doing this

I have a daughter serving in the Utah Ogden Mission (Apr ’11-Nov ’12) for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This blog connects me with other missionary mum’s worldwide, to swap stories, talk issues, and explore gospel principles.

  1. Hi,
I also have a son currently serving in the Utah Ogden Mission spaninsh speaking. He has been out 9 months. He is my first son to serve, and eventhough it has been hard, It as been a very rewarding experience. I am also part of the missionary moms group, that is where I read where you are from.
I have a question for you, I am planning a trip to New Zeland and Australia June of 2013. Can you tell me a little about them. What is the weather like? We are going to go to Bondi beach, will it be too cold?
is the food really expensive? I am trying to budget for that also.
Thank you, if you have some time I would love to hear from you and your thoughts.
    have a good day.

    • Hi Mari,
I love to connect with other missionary mum’s. Particularly those who have missionaries in the same mission as my daughter.

How exciting for your upcoming trip. I would love to talk to you about it. Why don’t you email me at macytraine1@hotmail.com and I can answer any of your questions regarding New Zealand and Australia.
Talk soon, and thanks for visiting my blog…

  2. Hello I just same upon your site… Look on how to send my son a package for Christmas to Sydney. He arrived in July and loves it so far he and his companion are in mudgee they haven’t had missionary there for 4yrs. There are 8members and 5are the brach pres. Family he is so excited to find people to teach. Thanks for your site! tami webb

    • Hi Tami, One of the ways that many mums send packages to their missionaries in Australia is to go online to some local Australian stores and order items online and have them delivered from there. There are several retail stores in Australia that offer this, and some even offer free delivery. Here are a couple of different links: Retail Stores – TARGET http://www.target.com.au/ BIG W http://www.bigw.com.au/bigw/home.jsp KMART http://www.kmart.com.au/ Supermarkets – WOOLWORTHS http://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/ COLES http://www.coles.com.au/ It is always advisable to have any packages sent to the mission office to ensure they get to the missionary. It may take longer to get to your missionary, but it ensures it doesn’t get lost on their doorstep. So make sure you organise it early enough. Finally, if you haven’t already joined, then I suggest you check out the LDS Missionary Moms Email group at http://www.ldsmissionarymoms.com There is an email group for every mission in the world, and it is a place where missionary mums can connect with each other – mums with missionaries in the same mission as your missionary, and mums who live in the mission where he is serving. It’s a place where you can get lots of local advice and information. I highly recommend it. Hope this helps. Tracy
